1. Module 5: Midline Catheter Insertion

   Master midline catheter insertion techniques, indications and contraindications, medication compatibility criteria, and evidence-based care practices.

2. ML100: Midlines — Application and Use

   Comprehensive overview of midline catheter best practices, clinical indications, MAGIC criteria, approved infusates, and integration into vascular access practice. Study midline selection and application.

3. ML105: Midline Types and Insertion Tips

   Master midline catheter types, Seldinger and Modified Seldinger insertion techniques, ultrasound guidance fundamentals, and troubleshooting strategies. Learn catheter materials, sizing, and clinical insertion tips for successful midline placement.

4. ML110: When is a Midline NOT Indicated

   Master the contraindications to midline placement and apply MAGIC criteria to determine when escalation to PICC or central venous catheter is necessary. Learn to recognize incompatible medications, patient-specific limitations, and therapy duration thresholds that make midlines inappropriate.

5. ML200: Midline Insertion Procedure

   Master midline catheter insertion using both Accelerated Seldinger Technique (AST) and Modified Seldinger Technique (MST). Covers ultrasound-guided vein access, ANTT protocols, Vygon direct stick catheters, PowerGlide devices, and post-insertion verification (INS 2024).

6. ML205: Midline Validating Successful Insertion

   Mastering ultrasound validation techniques for midline catheter placement. Comprehensive review of blood return assessment, flush evaluation, ultrasound-guided confirmation, short-axis and long-axis visualization, identification of malposition, and documentation of successful intraluminal placement.

7. ML210: Direct Stick Midline Catheters — PowerGlide, Vygon & ProV

   Deep dive into direct stick (AST) midline catheter devices: BD PowerGlide Pro, Vygon Leaderflex, and ProV catheter systems. Covers device selection, insertion technique, clinical advantages, and when to choose direct stick over guidewire (MST) approaches.

8. ML300: Midline Assessment and Removal

   Master midline catheter assessment techniques, daily site evaluation, dressing and flushing assessment, complication recognition, and safe removal procedures. Essential skills for maintaining midline integrity and preventing infections.

9. PICC and Midline Removal

   Safe assessment, technique, and complication management for the removal of PICCs and midline catheters per INS Standards of Practice (2024).
